The Barnes Foundation will host its second annual community-wide Walk/Run for Life on August 28th, 2010. All of the proceeds of the walk will again benefit the American Cancer Society’s Illinois Patient Navigation Services. Last year the Foundation raised $30,000 which was matched by the Duchossois family to make a combined donation of $60,000! The money went directly to fund a program which provides transportation to patients who need assistance getting to treatments. In some cases, these patients would not go to treatment without the help of the people dedicated to this amazing program. Providing rides may seem small, but it can truly save lives. |
Barnes Foundation founder and owner of Professional Medical found a way to not only make his employees smile but to give back to the community. Employees are allowed to wear jeans on Friday in exchange for a small donation to the Foundation. Since January, employees of Professional Medical have been putting money toward the foundation to support the Christmas toy drive. Employees pay $5 per month to wear jeans and together they provide Christmas to children who wouldn’t have one. It is a great way to work toward improving our community as a team.
